Why choose online counseling?
Online counseling is sometimes referred to as telehealth or teletherapy. At Ardent, online counseling services run just like an in-person session, except the session is done securely through Google Meet. That means we get to meet for our sessions with the convenience of you being in the location of your choosing! Online counseling gives an opportunity to receive counseling for those who otherwise may not be able to engage in services.
What are the benefits of online counseling?
Online counseling services are increasing in popularity due to ease and accessibility of using your computer or other device to meet your therapist. Research has demonstrated that online counseling is as effective as in person counseling for many individuals. Reasons people choose online counseling over in office settings include but are not limited to:
No need to travel to appointments
Great option for those with chronic health problems, physical disabilities, or compromised immune systems
Can be a more private option
Can plan around busy work, school, or children's schedules
Live in an area with limited access to therapists or too personal a relationship with the therapists in the community
Emotional difficulty leaving the home
Prefer the comfort of seeing a counselor from home
What do I need in order to engage in online services?
While being tech savvy is not a requirement, the sessions work when you have access to a computer or smart device that has a camera and microphone, as well as a stable internet/wifi/data connection. A pc, laptop, tablet, or smartphone would work for these sessions, and it is up to you what would work best.
Is online counseling secure?
Ardent takes your security seriously and uses HIPAA compliant software that ensures the security of the sessions, documentation, emails, calls, and texts. It is up to the you where you physically choose to engage in the session and take all responsibility for the privacy and security of your physical location and technology used.
